NIGHTLIFE in Bolton is set to receive another welcome boost with the planned opening of a host of chic new bars.

Two new pubs, £2.6 million The Goose in Deansgate and Pepper Alley in Bank Street, opened in December.

Now, proposals are in place for a £1 million cafe bar on the site of the former public toilets in Bridge Street called Spice4life, a £150,000 modern bar in the site of the former Le Brasserie Le Mans restaurant on the corner of Bradshawgate and a £1.5 million Life bar in Nelson Square.

A spokeswoman for The Town Centre Company Limited said she welcomed the possibility of new pubs opening in the area.

She said: "Bolton has always had a good reputation for night time economy. We are delighted to see new names coming into the town to extend the offer, ensuring that we, as a town centre, cater for all age groups."

A Life bar already exists in Manchester and the Bolton watering hole will be similar -- ultra modern, open plan and very stylish with a dance area. The company which owns it, Luminar Leisure, said it is excited at the prospect of bringing a city touch into the town.

Steve Dennis at Luminar said: "We know Bolton and we know Bolton well. Nelson Square has been identified as an area that will well suit a Life Bar.

"We are very excited by Bolton and we are excited by the way the town is developing and going. We like a town with a smile on its face."

Deepak Kotecha is the licensee for the proposed bar in the empty Brasserie le Mans premises, to be called either Bar 210 or The Gate. He is hopeful his plan will be a success.

The trendy bar will offer competitively priced coffee and sandwiches throughout the day and will be music led in the evenings.

He said: "The bar will be modern with a state of the art air conditioning system, an emphasis on lighting and there will be polished wooden floor boards."

The new Spice4life cafe bar will hold 600 people and will offer organic and vegetarian food from first thing in the morning to late afternoon. In the evening a bar and dance area will be open to the over 25s.

The new bars will be the latest additions to an already thriving night life economy.
