MISSED chances and an over-commitment to attack cost Chorley this UniBond first division game.
Lincoln keeper Simon Daniels did well to hang onto a Jamie Bates cross in the opening minutes with Andy Mason lying in wait but it was the home side who went ahead on 14 minutes when Gary Walters' cross eluded the Chorley defence to leave Chris Minta with a tap-in.
The Magpies hit back strongly and Danny Mills and Mick Molyneux had chances. As Chorley continued on top, a great run by Ian Leather was ended only by a superb last-ditch tackle.
Lincoln had an amazing double escape on the hour when Bates' goalbound shot was deflected off a defender onto the post and Mason sent a point-blank header a foot over the bar.
Chorley survived one breakaway scare when Ian Williams shot past Simon Marsh only for the ball to hit the post.
But shortly afterwards the Magpies were exposed by a Lincoln defensive clearance and Darren Smith raced through to put the home side two-up.
Chorley had to wait until the 87th minute for some reward. Substitute Eatock's cross was headed goalwards by Ian Barker and Leather made sure.
LINCOLN UNITED...2 CHORLEY...1
