PREMIERSHIP promotion-chasers West Brom are hoping to sign Wanderers' former Scottish international central defender Colin Hendry on loan.
Albion manager Gary Megson has had talks with Bolton counterpart Sam Allardyce over a deal for the 36-year-old.
But the Trotters boss is believed to be hesitant as he closely monitors the progress of Mike Whitlow, following his return from a neck injury.
A question mark also hangs over whether Hendry would agree to a move to one of the Nationwide League's less 'fashionable' clubs but Megson today refused to rule out securing a loan deal ahead of their clash with Preston on Tuesday night.
Megson said: "I will be speaking to Sam again to try and sort something out."
Megson is keen to strengthen Albion's central defensive resources for the promotion run-in.
The Baggies have been forced to play the final two games without centre-half Darren Moore due to a calf strain.
Moore has also been playing through the pain of a hernia problem that will eventually need surgery while fellow centre half Larus Sigurdsson has been battling against a groin problem.
Hendry has had his own injury problems this season, but has recently returned to full fitness.
