AS we all know, it is 50 years since the Queen came to the Throne; next year will mark the Golden Jubilee of the Coronation.
At the time, in 1953, not many people had televisions, but those who had asked friends and neighbours round to watch the ceremony. Today's picture is of the residents of Cemetery Road, Tonge Bridge, Bolton, who were invited to the house of the Davies family.
"They had the first TV in the road," recalls Mr Martin R. Marsh, of Longworth Road, Horwich. "Their house was originally the Cemetery Inn - now demolished - but was behind the house named Ivy Cottage, which still stands in Cemetery Road." He names all but one on the photograph, and if anyone recognises the person where I put the question mark, will you please contact Mr Marsh on Bolton 693034.
