SATURDAY: JUSSI Jaaskelainen predicts that Youri Djorkaeff will help cement Michael Ricketts' place in the England squad while also helping steer Wanderers away from the drop zone. Meanwhile, Ricketts says he will cherish the memory of his England debut and is looking forward to his next call.

MONDAY

EUROPE'S sporting press descend on the Reebok for the arrival of Youri Djorkaeff, who becomes the first World Cup winner to sign for the club since England hero Roger Hunt in 1969. Simon Charlton switches attention back to Premiership matters, looking forward to a revenge mission at his former club Southampton.

TUESDAY

SAM Allardyce and chairman, Phil Gartside, suggest there could be more signings before the transfer deadline if the manager identifies targets he believes can help Wanderers steer clear of relegation trouble.

WEDNESDAY

ALLARDYCE, currently running the rule over a Greek goalkeeper and a Spanish left-back, is also checking out the availability of Real Madrid's Spanish international central defender Ramos Ivan Campo. Djorkaeff gets half an hour's runout in a private friendly against Burnley at Euxton. The manager slams the media's criticism of Michael Ricketts' 45 minute performance on his England debut as "slightly worse than disgusting".

THURSDAY

WANDERERS are back in the transfer market, signing the 24-year-old midfielder from French club Metz, Mario Espartero, on loan for the rest of the season. Djorkaeff assures Wanderers there are no doubts over his fitness for Saturday's game at Southampton.

FRIDAY

ALLARDYCE tips Michael Ricketts to get back on the goal trail at Southampton and answer the critics of his England debut but he warns the goal star that, if he allows his international experience to affect his performances for Wanderers, he runs the risk of being dropped. The manager confirms his interest in Real Madrid's Campo. Mike Whitlow tells Djorkaeff, slagged off by his former Kaiserslautern team-mates and manager, that he will start with a clean slate at the Reebok.
