WIGAN'S Council tax is set to increase by 4.9 per cent after councillors approved their budget plans.
It means the Band D payment will go up from £960.52 to £1,008.55 from April.
However, since most Wigan households are in the lowest two council tax bands, the average bill will rise from £694 to £728, an increase of 70p a week.
