Bolton 3rd XI 2 vs. Wigan 3: BOLTON 3rd's faced a challenging trip to local rivals Wigan but were eventually outdone 3-2 in a physical encounter.
Once again Bolton's quality of play did not reflect their lowly league position. Their goals came from Richard Moore to strike home at short range and Damien Pierce but Wigan grabbed a late winner.
.
The game's temperature raised and both sides had chances to go ahead. Stuart Wallace, David Marchant and Robert Ottiwell battled hard in defence with Mark Bailey commanding respect. Again Short pulled off a series of saves, but another short corner resulted in Wigan taking a late lead. Which could have be cancelled out in the last minutes if only a take outside the "D" by Wigan keeper had been blown by the umpire.
