A £70,000 clean-up project is set to get underway in East Bolton.
East Bolton Regeneration has just approved the project to clean up areas which have been highlighted by local residents as needing attention.
A worker in a van will visit targeted areas in the area every week to remove litter, dog mess and graffiti.
Residents will have access to an environment hotline to report problems and hazardous materials will be removed the same day they are reported.
An Environmental Action officer will also be appointed to work with community groups and schools to get everyone involved in keeping the areas clean and raising awareness of environmental issues.
The officer will also have an enforcement role, and be able to take tough action against offenders.
The project will provide training for unemployed local residents who will be invited to enrol on training and work-shadowing placements with the team.
Hall i'th' Wood estate residents will be asked what they would like to see to make their streets more environmentally friendly.
