MAGISTRATES were told how a man who rampaged around the home of his girlfriend and baby and then attacked her father and mother has been given a community rehabilitation order.
David Newton attacked the mother of his young child, Rachel Bardsley, at her house in Greenmount.
Miss Bardsley went to her parents' home nearby but 15 minutes later Newton arrived there.
Blows were exchanged between Miss Bardsley's father and Newton. Then he attacked her mother and finally, using his fists, he smashed six glass panels in a porch door badly injuring his hands.
A few hours later Miss Bardsley went with her mother to her house to pick up some baby clothes and food.
While they were there Newton arrived and Miss Bardsley's mother was again attacked.
Newton from Victoria Street, Ramsbottom, pleaded guilty to two charges of assault and two of causing unlawful damage.
The court heard that since the incident Newton had voluntarily taken part in an anger management course.
He was given an 18 month community rehabilitation order with a condition that he attend a course about domestic violence. He was ordered to pay his two victims £100 compensation each and £70 for the damage caused to the porch windows.
