AN inquest has opened into a retired teacher who died in hospital after choking while eating a sausage roll at her Bury home.
Jean Marie Short, aged 68, of Ashbourne Grove, Stand, Whitefield, was taken to Fairfield Hospital's accident and emergency department after she had begun to choke at her home on February 24. Despite resuscitation attempts by the ambulance crew and hospital staff she died shortly after arrival.
Bury District Coroner Barrie Williams heard evidence of identification from her husband, Alexander, a retired college lecturer. The coroner adjourned the hearing pending medical reports.
