COUNCILLORS have backed a motion condemning plans to close 36 care homes for the elderly.
The motion received all party support at a meeting of Chorley Borough Council. It calls on Lancashire County Council to examine other possible options, including partnerships with other bodies, to avoid the mass closure. The plans would see 35 of the county's 48 homes close. The council claims it does not have the £14 million needed to improve them.
