HAPPY Horwich made it three wins from three games in Warburton's Bolton League after a remarkable victory over Greenmount writes Peter Mensforth

Yet at the tea interval, few would have given much for their chances after they were dismissed for a disappointing 94.

Pro David White and newcomer Paul O'Sullivan quickly made a mockery of that as they tore through the Greenmount batting order to skittle them for 47 to claim a 47 run win.

Initially it had been Greenmount pro Robin Morris who had taken advantage of a drying wicket to pick up 6-40 while White hit 23 and Grant Long 24 for Horwich.

As Greenmount struggled in reply, Paul Crawford was the only batsman to hit double figures with 10 while Fallon was the next highest scorer with 7.

There seems no easy remedy to Farnworth's problems as they lost out again after making another low score of just 47.

Opponents Westhoughton had no batting problems reaching 193-5, Alan Gaskell 43 not out and Mark Atherton and Ian Pilkington both adding 35.

Farnworth's problems came when their inexperienced batting line-up quickly succumbed to the bowling of Westhoughton pro Abdur, who finished with 7-14 and Darren Preston's 3-10.

Kearsley looked in better shape this week, piling up 225-5 at Astley Bridge but they still could not find that elusive win as their bowlers posed few problems for the home side.

Dave Leonard top scored for Kearsley hitting 96, falling on the last ball when he was caught on the boundary going for a century, while he also had useful assistance from pro Akber, who scored 37 not out.

In reply Bridge were never in any serious trouble despite Foy taking 4-43 and Akber 3-56 but Tim Barry's 47 not out plus 46 from Paul Stafford saw them finish at 173-7 in a game that neither side looked likely to win.

In another low scoring game Farnworth Social Circle were dismissed for 99, Eagley pro Iman Javed taking 5-45 after Phil McDermott had made the breakthrough when Circle were looking comfortable at 73-3.

They lost the next six wickets for only 16 runs before Eagley went on to win by five wickets after Scott Woods 34 and David Tonge 31 not out had taken control of the bowling.

The heavyweight clash between champions Walkden and their title predecessors Tonge ended in a draw.

Tonge totalled 175-7, Simon Anderton top scoring with 52 while Walkden were 161-8 in reply, Matt Parkinson again benefiting from his promotion in the batting order to hit 66 not out.

Bradshaw's Dave Tattersall made the difference in his side's four wicket win over Egerton. His 5-37 wicket haul led to Egerton tumbling to 94 all out before Chris Evans opened with 33 to set Bradshaw on their way.
