MEMBERS of Horwich Prize Medal Morris Men would like to publicly thank all those who assisted and supported A Day for St George in Horwich on Saturday, April 20.

The event, now in its 14th year, brings together Morris Dance Teams from across the North West on the Saturday nearest April 23, to celebrate traditional music and dance.

Our thanks go to officers of GM Police and the volunteer procession marshals from Horwich Carnival Committee, Gary Parker, Landlord at The Crown and all those at Horwich Resource Centre for refreshments, the Mayor of Horwich, Cllr Mrs Kellett for her presence, the Commonwealth Community Fund for a grant to help with publicity, and the Rotary Clubs of Horwich and Bury Irwell Vale for their generous financial support, which will enable the team to pay the £300 to be charged by Bolton Council for a temporary road closure order at Brownlow Road.

Thanks also to the people who displayed posters, joined audiences and motorists, whose progress through Horwich may have been slightly delayed, for their patience.

It made for a thoroughly successful event.
