A HEADLINE act at this year's Rivington Spring Festival promises plenty of sax appeal . . .
The Kintamarni Saxophone Quartet has a repertoire of classical, jazz and contemporary music. Its glamorous musicians kick off the Rivington Spring Festival on Friday night .
The group comprises Ruth Darby, Katy Hird, Katherine Brown and Jo Luckhurst who got together in 1996 at the Royal Northern College of Music.
Since then, they have appeared in many of the country's major concert halls.
Their appearance on Friday night is at the Rivington Parish Church, 7.30pm. Tickets are £27.50 (with after dinner concert), and £7 (for concert only).
Variety is the key word on Saturday when the festival continues with a village green afternoon, from 1.30pm. There will be morris dancers, teas, barbecue, plants and music from Rivington and Adlington Brass Band.
In the evening Rivington Parish Church will be the venue for "Wine, Women and Song". The event at 7.30pm, will dip into operetta and musicals with Martin Parkes and friends from the Royal Northern College of Music. Music will include the songs from the shows and Gilbert and Sullivan.
