I FOUND the story about Leigh Co-op giving dividend again very interesting (Bolton Evening News, Wednesday, May 1).
I was a member in Bolton Co-op from the late '40s, and remember so well the Co-op Bank in Bow Street; the counters so well polished in beautiful wood.
I went each quarter with my gum sheets all added up. The money (divi) was then transferred to the little black book. I still have mine, and incidentally the Co-op still owe me £1.4s.7d.
Happy memories indeed, such a pity the lovely Co-operative Bank had to be knocked down. Another era gone.
