BLACKBURN striker Matt Jansen tonight has one last chance to impress Sven-Goran Eriksson before the Swede names his final party for the World Cup.

He plays at Anfield with manager Graeme Souness saying: "It could all come down to how he plays in this game as to what happens.

"It's as simple as that and there's some drama around it.

"I am sure Sven or Tord Grip, one or both of the England men will be there to watch. It's Matt's chance to impress and it's up to him. We will give him the opportunity to do that.

"He's starting to find out now what it's like to be a team player. Early on, we felt that some of Matt's efforts were misdirected at times.

"He is a player with natural ability and that degree of unpredictability that all top strikers must have. One day, Matt Jansen will play for England."

If Jansen is overlooked, he is expected to undergo a double hernia operation next week to ensure he is fit in time for next season.

Meanwhile, Jansen's team-mates Damien Duff and Alan Kelly were named in the Republic of Ireland's World Cup squad by Mick McCarthy yesterday.
