ELTON had to dig deep to pull off a dramatic last-ball one wicket victory in their Anthony Axford Bolton Cricket Association clash at Walshaw.

The home side struggled to 131 all out with five overs left, thanks largely to a strong 39 from Anthony Harris, after a middle order collapse reduced them to 77-7.

Walshaw's Robin Faulkener took five wickets for 58 runs and Jon Fielden 4-34 but Elton, who needed 20 runs from the last eight overs when captain Andy Chappell was last man at the crease, clinched the win with Nick Barrass sneaking a single off the last delivery.

Rehman Shah took a magnificent six-wicket haul for just 54 runs to stem a spirited effort from Darcy Lever and steer Lostock to a three-run success. Lostock notched up 133-9, with Shah top scoring with 35 and Richard Stobbs knocking a strong 28.

Yashir Bashir, 39 and Nick Fawcett, 31, helped bolster Levers innings but Shah and Phil Hall, who took 4-35, ended their innings on 130.

Standish professional Arindam Sarkar struck an impressive 57 not out to help his side clinch a win over Daisy Hill with seven wickets remaining. Neil Bannister hit 59 of Daisy Hill's 171-7 and took all three Standish wickets for 63 runs but it was not enough to seal the victory. Captain Paul Matthews struck a magnificent 105 to inspire Spring View to a comfortable 89-run triumph over Adlington. Chris Rudd added 37 runs to their total of 229-6 before Andrew Fox and Ian Critchley took three wickets apiece to end Adlingtons response on 140. Andrew Griffiths and David Parkinson both recorded half-centuries as Clifton recorded a 12-run win at Edgworth.

Griffiths, 64 and Parkison, 51, were the main contributors to the impressive total of 209-7. Edgworth fought back, boosted by Nick Kenrick's 48, but could only reach 197-6 before their overs ran out.

Lee Baldwin was Golborne's hero after his figures of 4-57 skittled out Blackrod 26 runs short of their target.

Blackrod's David Morris also took four wickets for 65 runs but it was not enough to stop Golborne setting a match-winning total of 156 all out, Graham Marston top scoring with 32.
