A WONDERFUL roach of 2lbs-2ozs made up for an otherwise disappointing match in the Bolton Anglers Associations Coronation Cup on Star Mount.
George Fletcher caught the specimen on caster and this, along with a skimmer, saw him finish way out in front with a haul of 3lbs-14ozs. Second was Jimmy Armitage with 1lb-4ozs and third was Craig Higson with 7ozs.
The rest of George's team-mates in Little Lever Angling Club all blanked but his weight secured the team prize.
Bolton Anglers' Association hope for better sport when they hold their Senior Citizens match on the May 25 at Parkers, Bury.
The draw takes place at 7am with fishing from 8am until 1pm. The £5.50 entry fee includes lunch afterwards at the Rose and Crown at Ainsworth.
The first 20 to book will be allowed to fish. Contact Dave Hanson on 0161 761 7441.
