IN answer to Cllr Linda Thomas and Cllr Cliff Morris.

I read with some concern about the good work you are doing for the residents of Halliwell, and could not make my mind up about the Halliwell you were talking about.

I live on Halliwell Road and on a weekend, Friday and Saturday night, we have trouble with under-age drinkers, drug users and scooter riders making a general nuisance.

When these so-called people are approached, all you get in reply is verbal abuse. The police have been informed and nothing is done.

The Office of the Environment have been informed and we were told that there is nothing they can do.

We complained to the police some time back about drug pushers in Cotton Street, and this was stopped.

The school in Cotton Street and the back of the pub near the school is a disgrace in the mornings, with empty beer bottles, empty wine bottles, disused condoms and disused needles all left lying on the floor for the residents of this Halliwell to clear away.

So, Cllrs Thomas and Morris, instead of patting one another on the back for a job half done, take a look at the other Halliwell that most people in authority seem to want to forget.
