AS a fan of the Big Breakfast to the bitter end, I was intrigued to see what innovative format Channel 4 would come up with to better the wonderful, if slightly manic, Big Brekkie -- so its fair to say that RI:SE has come as a great disappointment.
The show is fronted by Mark Durden Smith, aka the son of Judith Chalmers, and two other presenters for a supposedly entertaining mix of celebrity news, headlines and banter.
It might have looked good on paper but the end result is awkward, grating, amateurish and, judging by the appallingly low midweek viewing figures, it seems the public agrees. It's enough to make you stay in bed.
