A YOUNG boy's courage in the fight to beat cancer has earned him the distinction of becoming the first Bolton Wanderers Fan of the Year.
Daniel Roberts, a 12-year-old Thornleigh College pupil, underwent three years of chemotherapy treatment before being given a clean bill of health.
He has been a Wanderers fan for nine years and saw his first game at Burnden Park at the age of three, despite having lost his hair as a result of his cancer treatment.
Nominated by his parents, Daniel received the award "for bravery, resilience and exceptional determination -- qualities he shares with his favourite team".
His father, Paul Roberts, said: "He is clear of any signs of the disease now but he never complained. He just loves the Wanderers."
Daniel received his award at the Player of the Year Ceremony at the Reebok Stadium on Friday from his favourite player, Ricardo Gardner.
