A FATHER-of-three from Harwood has been promoted to a top position in the fire service - with the Commonwealth Games the first job on his agenda.
Tony Proctor of Brook Gardens, Harwood, took up the appointment of Greater Manchester's deputy county fire officer on April 1.He has served in the county's service since 1975, holding a range of posts including station commander at Bolton North Fire Station.
During the last three years as assistant county fire officer, he has held overall responsibility for fire service operations.
And Mr Proctor's new role will see him undertake a range of management responsibilities and continue to lead fire service planning arrangements for the Commonwealth Games.
Mr Proctor said: "I am particularly keen to work closely with everyone to make Greater Manchester a safer place in which to live and work."
