THE jury in the trial of a 1960s Manchester United star accused of a road rage attack was today due to retire to consider its verdict.
Paddy Crerand, 63, of Moss Way, Sale, Greater Manchester, denies one charge of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and one charge of unlawful wounding.
The jury of seven men and five women at Manchester's Minshull Street Crown Court have sat through two days of evidence and were told not to be dazzled by the celebrity status of the defendant.
Crerand was accused of using a golf club "like a baseball bat" and striking fellow motorist Mark Taylor, 39, in the head and twice in the abdomen.
