SIR Alex Ferguson did not have a very good week on the football field last week - but five Bolton Evening News Naps teams were delighted with his success on the turf in the 2,000 Guineas at Newmarket!

Rock of Gibraltar won by a neck from stable favourite Hawk Wing with Redback third. At 9-1, Fergie's horse gave a big lift on Week Six to Penny's Pickers, The Clampets, Gordon's Four, White Army and Booker's Brains.

Otherwise favourites pickers had a successful day with 34 teams picking eight winners.

But at prices ranging from 11-2 down to Evens they have made little impression on the table which is still led by Halliwell Anglers.

White Army must have swallowed their pride to back the Manchester United manager's horse but it has pushed them up to seventh with a running total of £24 from the fictional £1 bet.
