FARNWORTH have not had the best of starts in the Bolton League
Four matches into the season they are not only looking for their first win, but also something like a decent total.
After three innings of 74, 61 and 47 they at least reached three figures last week when they totalled 132-9 in the defeat by Kearsley.
But according to club officials, this season's performances are not altogether unexpected although they admit that team spirit is surprisingly high.
Cricket chairman Ian Syddall said: "We knew we would struggle this season because we have lost a number of players and basically we are now using second teamers.
"That is no detriment to them because up to now they have shown terrific spirit, playing for one another and really enjoying their cricket.
"Obviously their batting has suffered at first team level but they are learning all the time while we are hoping that as the season goes on we may get a couple of batsmen, who are not able to get a first team game at other clubs."
Warburton's Bolton league: Bradshaw v Westhoughton; Eagley v Tonge; Farnworth v Astley Bridge; Heaton v Farnworth SC; Horwich v Egerton; Little Lever v Greenmount; Walkden v Kearsley.
