FILM: Roadkill. This cross between Duel and The Hitcher is still scaring audiences nationwide. Student Lewis (Paul Walker) is persuaded by his brother, Fuller (Steve Zahn) to play a practical joke on a lonely trucker. Lewis pretends to be a female driver and flirts over the CB radio with a trucker. But the prank backfires when a furious Rusty vows to hunt down the siblings and Lewis' friend Venna. What follows is pretty nerve-shredding stuff, with plenty of twists and turns. IS
SPOT: Festivals. Haven't got your ticket yet? Well why the dickens not? Could it be that you don't want to spend three days of your life waving your arms about surrounded by thousands of strangers, getting sunstroke and/or a mudbath and spending five hours queing for the loo? Despite the obvious downsides, festival season will soon be upon us, and it would surely be rude not to join in. The choices are plentiful -- catch Stereophonics, Travis and Basement Jaxx at V2002, Paul Van Dyk, Danny Rampling and Faithless at Creamfields or New Order, Alfie and Doves at Manchester's Move Festival. Or plump for Glastonbury, as they are threatening that it might be the last one ever (again). Don't forget your wet wipes. NM
DVD: Thelma and Louise. It is hard to believe that this great film from Ridley 'Gladiator' Scott is now 11 years old and marked the first time a certain Brad Pitt was noticed big time. Susan Sarandon and Geena Davis are excellent in the title roles as friends who decide to break out of their humdrum domestic lives and go on an adventure. They get more than they bargain for, though, when they kill a would-be rapist in a redneck bar and the police come looking for them. Spot-on performances, a smart script and some breathtaking scenery, filmed with Scott's trademark panache, make Thelma and Louise a good film in its own right, but the DVD is packed with goodies. IS
WHO: Ms Dynamite. London-born MC Naomi McLean-Daley. Although better known as a top UK MC, Ms Dynamite was encouraged to sing by her producers, resulting in a new sound which is causing her to be dubbed the UK's answer to Lauryn Hill. The 20-year-old performer will be releasing her new track, It Takes More, on May 20. Watch out for an explosion into the charts. NM
