MOTORISTS in Bolton could cause more deaths when a new government speed camera scheme is implemented, according to an expert.
Transport bosses have said all speed cameras should be painted yellow for clearer visibility and warning signs in areas where there are no cameras should be banned.
Public health specialist Paul Pilkington argued that, while hidden cameras had been proven to reduce road accidents by making drivers cut their speed, this new scheme could make drivers more careless. He argues that more research into the potential effects on drivers is necessary.
