WORRIED families in Farnworth have collected a 150-name petition demanding safer roads in their neighbourhood.
Campaigners say it is only a matter of time before a child is killed in the area covering Crescent, Brookhouse, Greenhall and Firwood avenues at New Bury.
There have already been two accidents and many more, they claim, have gone unreported.
Spearheading the campaign, Michelle Naish, of Crescent Avenue, said: "Does a child have to die before something is done? This has gone on for far too long.
"These streets used to be designated as play streets and the residents have asked the council to put the signs back up. " They are calling on Bolton Council to discuss the available options with them and are encouraging all residents to report speeding drivers.
Mrs Naish and her children Daniel, aged six, Leaha, aged five, and Shannon, aged four, presented the petition to Dr Brian Iddon MP and Cllr Noel Spencer.
