THE Horwich RMI Harrier Vets claimed the team award in last Saturday's Coniston Fell Race, the third British and second English Fell Championship race of 2002.
The nine mile 3500ft race saw an excellent turnout of Harriers, and once again the Vets powered their way to victory. This latest team success puts the Vets team in overall first place in both championships, and if this form is continued they could well clinch the double come the end of the campaign.
The Harrier Vets were led home by Steve Barlow in 31st (fifth V40), who is really showing excellent form, closely followed by Graham Schofield in 32nd (sixth V40) . Steve Jackson ran well, finishing eighth V40, and with Tony Hesketh (third V50), these two fine fell runners completed the vets team of four. Paul Murray had yet another great run to take the V60 award.
