CHORLEY manager Mark Molyneaux is in the money.
The former Trafford boss won £8,500 on an accumulator after predicting that Juventus, Celtic, Arsenal and his favourite club Manchester City would win their respective championships.
He and his boss at Chorlton Glass bet £100 altogether.
"I am absolutely delighted as, being a City fan, United aren't my favourite club to say the least.
"We won £17,000 altogether and I was ectstatic!" said the keeper who took over towards the end of the season from long-serving Ken Wright.
"My biggest worry was Juventus, they were second in the league going into the final day on Sunday but won 2-0 while Inter Milan, who were top, lost 4-2 at Lazio.
"It was great as the TV was flicking between the two games.
"The best thing was Karel Poborsky scored two goals and Jaap Stam had a fantastic game for Lazio. It made my day!"
Meanwhile at Victory Park, Molyneaux is determined to turn his players into lean, mean fighting machines this summer.
He has released eight players and has left it up to a few to get fit. Star 29-goal striker Andy Mason is one of them - Molyneaux wants him to turn into 'Mr Nasty.'
"He is much too nice. He needs to get more aggressive and more physical."
"I try and wind him up by shouting at him. I can see him getting angrier but he still doesn't bite!"
"He needs to get physical."
We are having sessions at the gym over the summer for the players to get them right for next season.
"It is not compulsory, but it will work in their favour. They should want to do it."
Goalkeeper Simon Marsh, former Rochdale player Graham Hicks and Dave Eatock are others who have been told to slim.
"Graham is a good player but he needs to sort himself out while Dave needs to build his upper body up.
"I won't have any weak links in my team but it is up to them!"
Club skipper Paul Fleming has moved to Ossett Town. "It is no disrespect to Paul but he is on a downward slide in his career. I want a physical, strong, organised and disciplined side and I just decided Paul wouldn't feature next season."
And will he be spending his winnings on his Chorley side? "No!" was the definite answer. "But I might fly to Italy and thank Jaap and Karel personally!"
