The last time Wanderers graced the Premiership after their fantastic last season at Burden Park, the final game of the campaign ended in utter despair.
Walking out of Stamford Bridge with the prospect of a very uncertain future in front of us was the most disturbing thought that I, and many other's on their way back home from that fateful day were left to sob over.
Thank our lucky stars we didn't have to face that scenario again at Upton Park.
I'm not sure that I could have stood up to the pressure, especially with the goalmouth action at our end in the latter stages of the second half with its almost inevitable final minute decider going the way of the opposition.
Fortunately for us, Ipswich was left to hope for a miracle last day resurrection, which only concluded in routed defeat.
Many Super Whites fans will see that as justice for our unfairly viewed play-off demise at Portman Road. But those who enjoy the game at it's most purest will see it somewhat differently, Ipswich showed everyone last season that there is light at the end of the tunnel if you don't spend millions on players, but what they forgot to remember this time was the fact that team spirit is by far more important.
It's a lesson that Big Sam has never had to learn, he's always known the benefits of having a happy and settled squad around him, and it mattered little that they often came from the beg, borrowed, and stolen category of the transfer market.
The prospects for club and its supporter's next season could be even greater in terms of pressure and stability and no doubt there will still be the odd pundit probably tipping the Trotters to hgave another flirtation with relegation.
This season may have been a rollercoaster of emotions, but I'll be first in the queue for my season ticket come what may.
I love the club and to me the only time the Reebok Stadium is a boring place is during the summer months when the grass grows unhindered.
