ENGLAND midfielder Steven Gerrard was today waiting to hear whether his fading World Cup dreams have been shattered by injury.
Gerrard suffered a recurrence of a groin problem that has afflicted him since at least February in Liverpool's final game of the season against Ipswich on Saturday.
He was visiting a specialist in Belgium to discover whether immediate surgery is needed but even if he does not require an operation, it would seem to be a problem that could raise its head again at any stage.
