BOLTON Wanderers fan Dougie Mitchell has certainly let Mark Lawrenson get under his skin.

The TV football pundit said he would shave off his moustache if the Wanderers stayed in the Premier League.

Lawro's moment of truth came on Friday at a posh London salon, but in anticipation, local artist Kevin Collins designed a cartoon of a terrified Mark being shaved by Wanderers boss Sam Allardyce.

Dougie was so impressed, he vowed to add the design to his collection of tattoos to raise money for Bolton Hospice.

He said: "It all started as a joke in the pub. When I saw the cartoon on the back page of the Bolton Evening News I told my friends I had thought about having it reduced and done as a tattoo on my back.

"A friend said I should have it done full size and I thought 'Why not! I could do it for charity'."

Not one to back out of a challenge, Dougie, aged 41, was duly inked during a two and half hour sitting by tattoo artist Fred Ivill, at Albert Road Tattoo Studio, Farnworth.

Lorry driver Dougie, of Starling Road, Farnworth, said: "I have lost count of how many tattoos I've got, but it's worth having this one to raise money for a good cause.

"My friends and family think I'm potty but my wife, Diane, is used to it now."

Fred, who has been tattooing for 25 years, was only too pleased to copy Kevin's design for the tattoo, and offered his services for free to help Dougie raise money.

He has been a Wanderers fan since childhood, and once helped save the life of a man at a match as he choked on his false teeth.

His artistic charity drive can still be sponsored, and the person pledging the most money will win a signed Wanderers shirt. For more information contact Bolton Hospice on 01204 520040.
