WHEN you did your National Service in the good old days, the first thing you got was cropped -- your head was given a clipper cut!

There's one thing about today if conscription into the Armed Forces existed, and it's that many young folk with the monk cut would certainly save a few bob on haircuts.

And, more than anything, it made a man out of you, and taught you respect for authority and yourself!
