PUPILS at Wolfenden Primary School, Halliwell, raised £1,901 for a research charity helping children with leukaemia.
After hearing that a local family had been hit by the illness children, parents and staff responded by raising the impressive amount.
Pupils were sponsored to complete a challenge of 26 elements -- one for each mile of the marathon -- ranging from learning tasks such as the spelling of animals' names to a number of physical games and skills. Each successful pupil was presented with a certificate of achievement.
