YOUNG people celebrated cultural differences with a colourful fashion show.

The students at Bolton Sixth Form College strutted their stuff on the catwalk to mark the launch of a booklet which has been produced as a guide to the many cultural and religious differences among the young people.

The show, which included a traditional display of traditional Asian dancing, proved to be a huge success and raised more than £400 for charities chosen by the students.

The teenagers modelled clothes from Bolton shops such as Posh Ladies Wear and Morgan as well as traditional Asian outfits.

Staff from Saks Hair and Beauty made sure all the young people looked stunning and Rice N Three provided a buffet for all those taking part.

Both students and staff have contributed to the Celebrating Difference booklet which includes articles designed to break stereotypes, such as a piece on arranged marriages.

College principal Roy Whittle said: "The last thing we want in Bolton is a repeat of the disturbances in Oldham and Burnley last summer. Bolton has always had good race relations.

"The booklet is part of the college's attempt to make sure this continues in the future."
