MUSTANGS watched the Birdie fly home at 16-1 to take over at the top of the Bolton Evening News Naps competition.

It was a good seven days for the new leaders as they chose 9-1 Rock of Gilbralter last week before backing Birdie at Lingfield onb Saturday. Birdie also benefited several other teams, notably Judith's Jockeys and Bob's Buds, while it provided King of the Turf with their first win of the season. However, Birdie was not the top winner of the day. That honour went to 33-1 shot Barrantes, who got home with a short head but at big odds in the last at Lingfield.

Only one of our teams, Booth Steel, fancied that one and not only did it provide them with their first win, it lifted them into fifth place with a profit of £26.

Psychic and Frankies Dream both got home at 10-1 to make it a good day for three of our teams. Psychic, winner of the next to last at Beverley helped the Whispers to a third success of the competition. And Frankies Dream was a debut winner for Grosvenor Windows and Breightmet Cons Club.

By far the most popular winner was Feel So Fast, the 5-2 choice of 12 of our teams.
