POLICE have urged motorists to be careful where they leave their keys after a car was stolen in Walkden.

A thief stole a green metallic X-reg Vauxhall Vectra after he walked into the kitchen of a house on Windale through an unlocked door and grabbed the keys off a work top.

Det Insp Danny Woodward, of Swinton CID, said: "People need to take care of their vehicle keys.

"Cars are becoming more difficult to steal and thieves now need the keys to take them. Be aware."

The vehicle has not been recovered.
