I WAS very proud to read that Eddie Davies, Bolton Wanderers' Director (front page, May 13), had given £100,000 to our local hospital.
I've been saying for a long time that wealthy footballers like David Beckham and others should buy a bed or equipment for our hospitals.
I have seen every doctor at the Royal Bolton Hospital. I can't pay for my treatment, I only wish I could, but I do give money when I can, not a lot, but every little helps. I'm only sorry that Eddie had to have a heart attack for him to send some money to the hospital.
Most wealthy people don't know how the NHS works. They don't have to go on waiting lists, they can pay for a bed if they need one. I'm not saying they should give £100,000 like Eddie, but each 1p makes a quick £1.
I wrote to Your Views last year suggesting we pay some of our council tax to help our hospital, but it can't be done.
