DEAN Holden has thanked Wanderers for paving the way for the transfer he set his heart on.
The Salford-born defender signed a three-year contract with Oldham Athletic this week after Sam Allardyce waived an initial fee.
"They have been brilliant about the whole deal and I am very grateful to them," Holden said.
"I know this is the right move for me and I didn't have a moment's hesitation in making it.
"Personal terms were agreed straight away and I am looking forward to a new challenge in my career."
Holden, who had been on Wanderers' books since his school days, spent the bulk of last season on loan at Boundary Park. And, although his Reebok contract still had a year to run, he knew he was unlikely to figure in Allardyce's Premiership plans.
Wanderers will play Second Division Cardiff City as part of their preparations for the new Premiership season.
The game will take place at Ninian Park on Saturday, August 3. A friendly at Burnley on Wednesday, July 31 has already been announced.
