Horwich will be looking to build on their healthy lead at the top of the Bolton League tomorrow (Saturday) when they try and stretch their unbeaten run to six games.

They are currently 23 points clear of second and third placed teams Heaton and Walkden and will be confident of picking up winning points at Farnworth Social Circle, who have only won one game this season.

Horwich have won five of the first six games, dropping their first points of the season last weekend in a draw with Egerton, despite compiling a handsome total of 234-4 with Steve Woods, Jon Partington, Grant Long and pro David White all making solid contributions.

It is unusual to see Egerton in the lower reaches of the table but they currently occupy the next to bottom place having failed to register a win this year.

Only one other team shares that dubious statistic - Farnworth, but something may give tomorrow when the two sides line up against each other.

Champions Walkden have a double date with Astley Bridge this weekend.

Tomorrow the two sides meet in the league at Sharples Park before the action switches to Walkden in Sunday's Thwaites Lancashire Knockout.

Matt Parkinson has been a driving force for the champs this season, his five innings bringing him a total of 260 runs and only one dismissal.

If he can maintain that form tomorrow the Bridge bowlers may have a job on their hands keeping the runs down, especially as Walkden's South African pro Doug Watson is also scoring freely and celebrated his maiden century last week,

Kearsley are another side eager to get away from the pack at the bottom of the table and a home game against Bradshaw may give them that chance while Heaton will want to underpin their second place in the table with a good result at Greenmount.

Tonge and Little Lever have enjoyed some tremendous matches over the years but the Castle Hill side look to have too much firepower for their neighbours at the moment.

Last week Tonge hammered 272 runs against the Eagley attack while the Lever batsmen struggled to reach 110 against Greenmount. Will there be similarities in the totals tomorrow?
