CIVIC leaders spoke of their delight that Wanderers will stay in the Premiership.
There was partying across the town on Saturday night as thousands of elated fans raised a glass a to celebrate the club's achievement.
Bolton Council leader Bob Howarth, a season ticket holder and lifelong fan, said it was difficult supporting Manchester United against Ipswich on Saturday, but well worth it.
"The game was quite nerve-wracking. I didn't think it was a penalty and I did feel a bit sorry for Ipswich," he said. "But we have had some dubious decisions against us and you have to take the rough with the smooth. The result is great news. Being in the Premiership brings publicity to the town and all of that helps with visitors numbers, tourism and inward investment.
"It will help to support the Pride of Bolton campaign."
Opposition councillor John Walsh, a die-hard fan who helps organise car parking at the club, was for once in total agreement with Cllr Howarth.
He said: "I have never before cracked open a bottle of champagne for a win by Manchester United - but I did on Saturday night.
"It's wonderful news for Bolton and I look forward to a win against Arsenal tonight to end the season with another success."
The Mayor of Bolton, Cllr Kevan Helsby, who first went to see the Wanderers with his dad in 1957, said: "I am over the moon.
"Everyone at the club has done a great job and should be congratulated. It will also be nice to see Mark Lawrenson shave off his moustache and Bolton Hospice, which is one of my chosen charities, benefiting from it."
The mayor will hold a special celebration dinner for the club tomorrow night.
Bolton South East MP Brian Iddon said: "I'm thrilled -- it's great for the town and for the club. It brings many people in to Bolton."
