Another dad and lad show at Atherton
ATHERTON could have found themselves another father and son combination to take over the family partnership set by Steve and Paul Walsh.
The Walsh connection was broken up following Steve's decision to join Astley and Tyldesley, a move he felt would help give his teenager son some breathing space.
Yet now their place could be taken by the Browns, father Paul and his 13 years old son Karl.
Despite his age, Karl is a regular member of the Atherton under 15s, under 18s and second team, plays regularly for the Lancashire junior sides and recently made his first team debut when he lined up against Alderley Edge in the National Knockout and against A & Tin the Association when he had to play a controlled innings to make sure his side drew the game.
He has played for South Lancashire under 15s, scoring 49 in their last game, while he has also played for North of Englandunder 13s.
He is improving all the time and his dad cannot wait to play alongside him on a regular basis although he knows that the teenager's development cannot be rushed.
"It really is quite something to play in the same side as your son. I think I get more nervous about his game than I do with my own but I suppose that is only natural.
"At the moment he is doing quite well and hopefully he will get better the more experience he gets."
