COUNCIL leisure bosses are giving sports enthusiasts a free rein to use of facilities over the coming weeks.

In an initiative designed to encourage more people to make the most of the weather, Chorley Council is allowing free use of its bowling greens, tennis courts and putting greens.

The new programme swings into action today and will run until the start of the new school term in September.

In addition, the council is working with its partners Community Leisure Services, who run All Seasons, Clayton Green Sports Centre, Brinscall Pool and Coppull Leisure Centre, to put on a wide ranging programme of activities.

Led by activity assistant they will provide a programme of supervised sessions for a range of age groups from children to adults.

These will take pace within the main parks and recreation areas of Chorley, with an evening programme during term time and during the day over the school holidays.

Sessions include crazy games and fit zone, a bowling competition as well as taster sessions in Tai Chi, tennis, roller hocky, arts and crafts.
