FINAL preparations are under way for the opening and closing ceremonies of the Commonwealth Games in Manchester.

The last audition for cast members will take place on Wednesday.

Both ceremonies -- which will open and close the Commonwealth Games at the City of Manchester Stadium before The Queen -- will be among the most spectacular productions ever staged in Britain, organisers say.

Nearly 7,000 cast members have already been recruited for the events on July 25 and August 4.

The show's producers, Jack Morton Worldwide, want enthusiastic members of the public to volunteer their services and showcase their talent in front of a live audience of 38,000.

A worldwide television audience of one billion people is expected to tune in.

Auditions are open to adult males and females who dance in any style of dance, including salsa, disco, ceroc, contemporary, classical, line dancing, jazz and street.

People wishing to take part in the auditions are asked to go to the visitors entrance of City College's City Campus, on Whitworth Street, Manchester between 6pm and 10pm.

Candidates are asked to wear comfortable clothing and soft-soled shoes.
