BOLTON'S cash-strapped health leaders may soon be able to appeal for financial help from the NHS Bank which has been set up by the government. Health Secretary Alan Milburn has made the first step in the establishment of the new NHS Bank. -- depositing £100 million in its coffers.
The Bank, which is still in shadow form, may provide the answer to Bolton's financial prayers as leaders argue to town is £10 million underfunded.
This year the NHS Bank will offer grants and loans to NHS organisations for investment in delivering government targets.
One of its main functions will be to provide "risk reserve" cash for Primary Care Trusts.
