LABOUR peer Lord Waheed Alli has become the first patron of a charity providing foster care to lesbian, bisexual and gay youths in Manchester.
The Albert Kennedy Trust, set up in 1990, offers housing advice, general information, mentoring and tenancy support for teenagers.
Lord Alli aims to expand the charity's services across the country.
