BOLTON farmers have been warned to check their safety standards before government inspectors conduct a series of spot-checks later this month.
Health and Safety Executive inspectors will carry out checks in Cheshire, Merseyside and Greater Manchester on May 29 and 30, following alarming figures showing five people died in North-west farm-based accidents last year.
Farmers could face five-figure fines if equipment and policies are found to be not up to scratch.
