TONGE quickly forgot last week's humiliating performance to crush neighbours Eagley by 102 runs.

Helped by the visitors' poor bowling attack Tonge reached 73-2 off 20 overs before skipper Simon Anderton and Jon Kerrigan blasted 133 in the next 20 overs to effectively put the game out of Eagley's reach.

Anderton finished on 59 while Kerrigan, the former Little Lever batsman, blasted a quickfire 74 which contained six sixes and five fours as Tonge made 272-6.

Eagley were never in the hunt after losing their first two wickets to run outs. David Shuttleworth and Scott Woods shared in an 87-run partnership for the fourth wicket but after they were dismissed wickets tumbled quickly and the side were all out for 170.

Champions Walkden have made a solid start but were frustrated by Kearsley who hung on despite having lost nine wickets.

Walkden rattled up 231 with pro Doug Watson enjoying his first century of the season with 105 not out, well supported by Dave Smith 59 and Matthew Parkinson unbeaten on 48. In reply Kearsley clung on at 117-9 after Phil Ingram had grabbed 6-27.

Horwich are still the runaway leaders despite being held to a winning draw by Egerton.

Horwich made 234-4 with useful contributions from Steve Woods 55, Jon Partington 48 not out, Grant Long 44 and David White 41. In reply Egerton never really went for the runs and with Mike O'Rourke hitting 51 ended on 138-7 with Nick Woods 3-35 and Andy Taylor 3-16.

Farnworth's miserable season continued when their much weakened side finished on 103-9 with Martin Axford's 44 a valuable contribution. William Halton did the damage for Astley Bridge with 6-40. The visitors eased home for the loss of three wickets with Siddique 49 not out.

It was a day Little Lever will quickly want to forget when they lost by 103 runs to Greenmount. The home side amassed 213-8 with 50 from Jimmy Horrox and 64 by Martin Fallon. In reply the visitors crumbled to 110 all out as Mark Stewart grabbed 6-53 and pro Robin Morris 3-53.

Bradshaw produced a solid display but it was not enough to beat Westhoughton. The home side made 248-7 thanks to an opening century partnership between Chris Evans who made 84 and Andy Kerr 44. Westhoughton fought hard but were restricted to 198-8 with Dalugoda taking 4-64.
