Everyone's invited to join the Jubilee 'Picnic in the park' at Salford's Buile Hill Park next Bank Holiday Monday.
The Monday, June 3, event, 1pm-4pm, promises to be just the first in a series of events and developments that could return it to its former glory.
The park, off Eccles Old Road, near The Willows home of Salford Reds Rugby League club, is to host a concert by the Greater Manchester Police Band.
Organised by the Friends of Buile Hill Park, the event is also designed to mark the Queen's golden jubilee.
The free event will be opened by players from Salford Reds, and will also feature a tombola and raffle. People are invited to bring their own picnics and enjoy the music.
Explained group chair Eileen Creely: "All the work of the group is by volunteers, but we aim to work with the city council to restore facilities and life to the park, the way it used to be.
"Many people can remember bands performing in the park back many years ago, and we hope this will be just one example of how we can bring people back to our park again."
